Loch Ness
“Hurry up, Tom. My grandma can ride faster than you!” Sally yelled to her cousin. They were riding their bikes down a dusty, old road. Time passed and they were starting to get lost. Eventually they found a small, abandoned beach. The two cousins sat down under a shady tree on the edge of the lake, when they heard a strange noise coming from behind a nearby log. Sally walked over to the log and saw something incredible. “Oh my, Tom, come quickly!” Tom raced over and gasped at the sight of what seemed to be a baby monster!
“What is it?” asked Tom. Sally replied, “I don’t know. I’ve never seen anything like it.” With that, the little monster started to cough. It looked across to the other side of the lake and called out. Sally and Tom heard a reply from across the water. Sally gazed in excitement. “Wow, don’t you see? That was the baby’s mother. We need to get him, or her, to its mother before, well, we don’t want to find out, so let’s get moving.” “Incredible, sounds great,” Tom said, “my idea is to somehow make a boat and row the baby to its mum.”
The cousins set off to find something to use as a boat. To their great amazement, Tom found a small, wooden canoe, but it had no oars. “Never mind,” Sally explained, “we can use some tree branches.” Tom collected some branches while Sally carefully placed the monster in the canoe. In no time, the cousins were half way across the lake, slowly rowing with the tree branches.
The baby kept getting sicker, so Tom tried to think of a way to make the boat go faster. He decided to take off his shirt and attach it to one of the tree branches to form a sail. This really boosted the speed and in a few minutes, they were at the other side of the lake.
Sally and Tom were exhausted so they sat still in the boat catching their breath. All of a sudden they felt a big THUMP under the boat. Out of nowhere a massive monster popped out of the water. Tom was scared that it might be angry, but the mother wasn’t angry at them at all. In fact the baby monster simply jumped into the water with its mother and they swam away. That was it. “Goodbye, monsters.” Sally shouted as the two creatures swam into the distance.
The two cousins started to row back when the boat started to sink. “Oh, no, there is a hole in the canoe!” Sally shrieked. The two panicked and tried to bail out the water with their hands. “It’s no use.” Tom said. Just then, they felt another THUMP under the boat. It was the mother. She had come to save them. She pushed them all the way to the shore.
“Wow, thank you so much,” Sally said as she stepped onto the sand. The monster let out a big call and returned to the other side of the lake. Tom and Sally stood in amazement, watching the ripples left by the monster. “Wow, we really did it, Tom. We saved a baby monster!” Sally said. “Hey, Sally, look where we are!” Tom said, pointing to a sign. The sign read, ‘Loch Ness’. They looked at each other, “Nobody will ever believe us.” Sally said. They heard a car beeping. It was Tom’s father.
